Before the end of 2012…

In January 2012 I made a to-do-list like every year. It was a long list I don't want to bore you with..;) but almost every item on my list is done! I had a good and positive year. There were nice appointments with newspapers, magazines and made a lot of new illustrations. I worked long days and learned new things. I experimented with new styles and techniques. (I can work digital as well, now!) I teached again at art school.

For 2013 I have many plans (as usual...why aren't there 10 days in a week..?). For the end of this year I want to finish one more project. I can't tell much about it yet but here are two small drawings of this project. More to follow. (These are two illustrations from a story that contains 7 pages, these two illustrations are not following up.)   website   website02

Newspaper illustration

This illustration I made for newspaper Trouw, and is about composed families with -for example- mother, children, stepfather. In two of the three cases the relationship between mother and stepfather fails. The article was about all the things that can go wrong in a situation like this, and how you can make it work. My illustration is about balance: when everybody works together (mother, father, stepfather, ex-wife of the stepfather, children etc.) a balance will be found for a good relationship between all the members of the family. pisa72

Newspaper illustration

Made this illustration about highs and lows in your income, and how that influences your happiness.
Another article about this subject, placed next to this article, was about that people can decide not to go skiing that year, so they can save the money. That's how I came to this idea for the cover illustration:
Highs and lows, ánd skiing.

Highs and lows in the income of people

A lower income makes people improvise more...:
I thought about nordic walking, an improvisation of skiing! :D
It looks funny and it fits with the illustration of the mountain.

Nordic walking; go improvise!
